We are happy to announce the winner of the 2022 ASI Gerard Basset Lifetime Achievement Award – Giuseppe Vaccarini!
This ASI award was first created in 2019 to honour the much missed, renowned sommelier Gérard Basset, with the aim of recognizing someone, who, like Gérard, has played an important role in making the sommelier profession shine and develop around the world.
It is of no doubt that Giuseppe, with his long, loyal service to the wine industry supporting sommellerie and hospitality, has had and continues to have an impact through his work and expertise for and within sommellerie. Being a great ambassador for wine, wine service, education and hospitality, Guiseppe is a mentor and shining example of professionalism in his own career that has inspired others.
Many congratulations too for the runners up, Véronique Rivest, Shinya Tasaki and Louis Havaux, all of whom are also shining examples within sommellerie
The trophy will be officially presented in Paris on February 10th at a dedicated evening ceremony, during the week of the ASI Best Sommelier of the World Contest 2023.
