We, at VinEsence, are the commercial and marketing management of several high quality wineries in Argentina.
Some of them are in search of importer in Estonia. In March we will attend Prowein and also make some trips to Europe over the course of the year, so we decided to send the information in case any importer may be interested in adding high quality Argentine wine into their portfolio.
– LUNA AUSTRAL (www.lunaaustral.com.ar): a boutique winery with great ambition. It is a 20 hectare vineyard in La Consulta, the heart of the Uco Valley (Mendoza). Under the philosophy of making great wines through biodynamic agriculture, this winery has a top Malbec and a St Emilion-style Blend. A new line of young wines (Phases) is now being launched and will be presented at Prowein: a Malbec and a Cabernet Franc. All wines with full Demeter biodynamic certifications, great identity of the place and winemaking in charge of Álvaro Espinoza, an international reference in this matter.

– XUMEK (www.xumek.com.ar): Top winery from San Juan province with a great link between wine, nature and arts. Its owner Ezequiel is passionate about winemaking and consider ‘terroir wines’ a lifestyle. Xumek is placed in Zonda Valley, a big valley with different altitudes and soils. There are different vineyards along the valley, that allow to obtain different profiles and styles with 100% own grapes. The Syrah grape historically produces the best wines, but Xumek has planted a very high vineyard called La Ciénaga at 1400 meters, where the best Malbec is being born. This new terroir is getting top reviews from international critics and magazines (Tim Atkin, James Suckling, Stephen Tanzer).

– VINYES OCULTS (www.vinyesocults.com): personal project of Tomás Stahringer, young and enthusiastic winemaker. Wines of great character and a concept of labels that sticks very well to consumers! Nice Malbecs and a great blend mixing Malbec with Cabs (Sauvignon and Franc). The Gran Malbec got recently 97 points (Platinum medal) in the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards, being one of the best ranked wines in Argentina. His labels are an amazing hit! –

BODEGA POLO-HERENCIA WINES (www.bodegapolo.com): it is a family winery founded 25 years ago by Don Ramón Polo. With his spirit and values, he has forged his children in the passion of loving viticulture and respecting terroir. Herencia (heritage) is the name and the meaning. Two wineries (one for still wines, the other for sparkling), two old vineyards very well located (La Consulta, top terroir in the heart of Uco Valley), a terroir with history and present are the tools that Polo family inherited.

– LORENZO DE AGRELO (www.lorenzodeagrelo.com): an ambitious project that began a few years ago in the upper part of Agrelo, one of Mendoza’s most famous areas for top quality wines. A great team of agronomists and winemakers led by Alejandro Vigil (chief winemaker of Catena Zapata) is responsible for the grapes that are born from this complex vineyard – due to its altitude and soil composition – become wines with true sense of place. The portfolio consists of Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and several Malbecs with differences in their plots, being a winery that reflects the concept of terroir and the new essence of Argentine wines.
