ASI Mag #3: Sommellerie in Eastern and Central Europe
The July edition of ASI Magazine is focused on the rise of sommellerie in places that have historically been limited by politics, religion, and other factors. Central to the publication is the emergency of a rich wine and gastronomic culture in Central and Eastern Europe.
Guest editor Robert Joseph discusses the social and economic foundations behind this evolution while Slovenian Chef Ana Roš, and Ukrainian sommelier and entrepreneur Nathalie Vilinskaya speak about the development in their respective countries.
Others point to the potential of Africa’s sub-Sahara region to develop sommellerie. Mikael Rodriguez of Morocco and Spencer Fondaumiere of South Africa speak to life of sommellerie in the ‘oldest world’ and the potential to grow the occupation in Africa.
Also in this edition, our contributors provide insights on how to become a member association of ASI, look ahead to ASI Bootcamp in Malaysia, how to prepare for a blind tasting at a contest, and much more! |
